New York state is sending eligible residents energy rebate checks of up to $200. 3 million checks have been delivered and another 5.2 million are expected to be sent in the coming weeks. The checks are part of the state’s $1 billion Protecting Our Wallets Energy Rebate program, included in the 2026-27 state budget to provide financial relief to households facing rising costs. The state began mailing the checks Sept. 21, and deliveries are expected to continue through December. About 8.2 million New Yorkers are eligible to receive a check.
