BRASHER -- Harry A. Dow, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his home on Saturday, July 20, 2024.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Harry was born on November 6, 1943, the son of the late Leon and Lillian (Regis) Dow.

In 1961, Harry graduated from St. Lawrence Central High School and met the love of his life, Janie D. Dow, shortly thereafter.

Their story, woven with their shared love of square dancing, golf and true crime shows, culminated in marriage on October 10, 1964, at the Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton, NY. They shared 54 beautiful years together, a testament to their commitment through sickness and health. Together, they proudly raised their four sons, Anthony, Tracy, Michael, and Robert.

After graduating from high school, Harry secured a position as an electrician with Shelly’s Electric in Potsdam, NY. His career path then led him to Alcoa, where he spent several years honing his skills as an electrical supervisor.

With a wealth of experience under his belt, Harry took the entrepreneurial leap and founded Dow Electric Incorporated, an electrical contracting firm, in 1987. Building on his success, he established Everything Electric, an electrical supply company, further expanding his business ventures.

Harry was an entrepreneur with a deep appreciation for life's simple joys. He enjoyed playing softball with the North Country Fireman's League and was an outdoorsman at heart, often exploring the woods on ATVs with his grandchildren.

Driven by a passion for creation, he also built a camp, a special place where he could share his love for the outdoors with family and friends.

In retirement, Harry and Janie spent winters in Naples, FL, where they enjoyed golfing and socializing with friends.

Harry is survived by his sons, Anthony and Kim Dow of Bombay, NY, Tracy and Tanya Dow of Potsdam, NY, Michael and Fabiola Dow of Vail, AZ, and Robert Dow of Waddington, NY. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Sara, Taylor, Madison, Lillian, Mary-Cate, Charlie, Alexis, and Michael Jr., as well as his siblings, Karen McKernan of Lancaster, Leroy and Marguerite Dow of Weedsport, Fern and Rod Douglas of Massena, Mary and Tom Huryn of Cadyville, Chris Dow of Morrisonville; and a brother-in-law Allan Tessier of Lawrenceville.

He was predeceased by his sisters Kathleen Tessier and June Tessier.

Visitation will be held Friday July 26th from 3 – 5 PM at the funeral home with a closing prayer gathering being offered at 5PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tri -Town Rescue Squad or to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley Inc.
