Great American Falls Fest presents $10,000 to Rensselaer Falls Library Association

Weekend of celebration turns into an investment in the future of Rensselaer Falls

RENSSELAER FALLS — When a community comes together around a shared purpose, great things can happen.

The Great American Falls Fest Committee recently made a $10,000 contribution to the Rensselaer Falls Library Association from proceeds of the 2026 Great American Falls Fest. The contribution will support the new Rensselaer Falls Library & Community Room, projected for completion in late 2027.

“This check represents so much more than $10,000,” said Mayor and Falls Fest Committee Chair Michael Hammond. “It represents sponsors who believed in our mission, volunteers who gave their time, small businesses and vendors who took part, and families who came together to enjoy our community. Everyone played a part in making this possible.”

Held September 11–12 at Pioneer Park, the 2026 Great American Falls Fest brought together families and visitors for live music, food and craft vendors, children’s activities, a fishing derby, fireworks, and a special ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of September 11.

The weekend was also a success for the many small businesses and vendors who participated, with organizers receiving positive feedback and reports from vendors who exceeded their sales expectations.

That is an important part of what the committee hopes Falls Fest can continue to accomplish: create an event where families make memories, small businesses succeed, people discover Rensselaer Falls, and the proceeds are reinvested into the community.

“Our sponsors make the event possible, our vendors help make it an experience, our volunteers make it happen, and families bring it to life,” Hammond said. “When all of those pieces come together, the entire community benefits.”

Building for the Future

The $10,000 contribution will help advance a project designed with the future of Rensselaer Falls in mind.

The new Library & Community Room will provide an accessible and welcoming space for children, families and residents, including a community room, kitchenette, accessible restrooms, children’s and adult library spaces, and the Village Clerk’s office. The building is also being designed to serve as a community heating and cooling location when needed.

The photograph accompanying the announcement captures that story. Behind the group are the existing library, the new Library & Community Room, and the historic Rensselaer Falls Congregational Church—the past, present and future of the community together in one picture.

“This project is about the next generation,” Hammond said. “We are building a place where children will learn, families will gather, neighbors will connect, and our community will continue to grow. Falls Fest gives all of us an opportunity to be part of that future.”

The Momentum Continues

The Falls Fest Committee isn't waiting until next September to bring the community together again.

Plans are already underway for a New Year’s community event, followed by the annual community yard sales in May, and then the return of the Falls Fest on September 10–11, 2027.

And the committee has set a big goal for the next Falls Fest, looking to double the library contribution to $20,000 following Falls Fest 2027.

“We have seen what this community can accomplish,” Hammond said. “Now we want to build on it—more families, more small businesses, more partnerships, and more opportunities to bring people together. Our goal is not simply to make our events bigger. It is to make their impact bigger.”

The committee extends its sincere appreciation to every sponsor, donor, vendor, musician, volunteer, organization, first responder, and family who contributed to the success of the 2026 festival.

Every sponsorship mattered. Every volunteer mattered. Every small business mattered. Every family that showed up mattered.

Together, they turned two days in Pioneer Park into a $10,000 investment in the future of Rensselaer Falls.

The committee is also looking toward its own future. New committee members, volunteers and ideas are always welcome from anyone who wants to help bring people together and continue building on the momentum happening in Rensselaer Falls.
