GOUVERNEUR — A Gouverneur prison inmate indicted on second-degree murder after allegedly killing another person this summer has entered a plea of guilty on the charge.

St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua announced today Wilfredo Noe, 47, has pled guilty.

Noe was originally indicted on charges of second-degree murder, along with first-degree manslaughter, first-degree assault, first-degree strangulation and second-degree assault.

Noe is an inmate with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

The indictment charged Noe with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, first-degree assault, first-degree strangulation and second-degree assault related to the death, a release from the SLC district attorney’s office said.

Luigi Cappellino, 26, was  killed June 5 at the Gouverneur Correctional Facility.

Noe was arraigned following the unsealing of the indictment Oct. 31 in St. Lawrence County Court.

He was remanded without bail, the press release said.

The incident was investigated by New York State Police, the New York State Attorney General's Office and the St. Lawrence County District Attorney's Office.

Judge Greg Storie committed to sentence Noe to an indeterminate term of imprisonment with the NYS Department of Corrections with a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of life at the time of his sentencing.

Noe will be sentenced on July 29, 2024.

He was remanded pending sentencing to the custody of New York State Department of Corrections where he is serving a sentence on an unrelated matter, according to the district attorney's office.
