GOUVERNEUR — A North Country man has accepted a leadership role at Gouverneur Bancorp Inc.
David C. McClure Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gouverneur Bancorp, Inc. (the “Company”) and Gouverneur Savings & Loan Association (the “Bank”), announced the board appointed of Robert W. Barlow as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company and the Bank effective March 27.
Charles C. Van Vleet, Jr. will continue to serve as the President and Chief Executive Officer of GS&L Municipal Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bank, and will assist with Barlow’s transition to the role of President and Chief Executive Officer.
“We are delighted that Rob Barlow has agreed to join Gouverneur Savings & Loan and I look forward to working closely with him as he transitions to his new role as president and chief executive officer,” Van Vleet said.
Both Barlow and Van Vleet have worked at other banks in the Potsdam area.
“I am excited to assume the role of president and chief executive officer and for the opportunity to manage a local community bank in a market with which I am very familiar,” said Barlow. “I am grateful to be selected to lead this outstanding management team and look forward to working with, and for, our directors, employees and stockholders going forward.”
