POTSDAM — Operational funding for the Potsdam Fire Department and Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad for the coming year has been approved by the village board.

The board has also approved the new slate of elected officers at the fire department.

The trustees and mayor voted unanimously at their meeting May 13 on funding agreements with both agencies.

Village Mayor Alexandra Jacobs Wilke was authorized by the board to execute the village’s agreement with the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad for June 1, 2024-May 31, 2025. The squad will be funded $35,000 from the village to help fund service coverage in the municipality during that time.

The board also approved a resolution authorizing Wilke to execute a similar agreement with the Potsdam Fire Department for the coming year from June 1 to May 2025. The department will be paid $10,250.

The mayor and village trustees also voted to approve the election results of the following officers for the fire department for a year starting April 12:

  • Chief Mark Bradish;
  • First Assistant Chief Dan McGregor;
  • Second Assistant Chief Jason Farnsworth; and
  • Third Assistant Chief Jay Bradish.

Village board members and officials plan to tour the fire department on May 24.
