CANTON — A four-day trial ended Friday with a St. Lawrence County jury finding a 57-year-old Gouverneur woman guilty of driving while intoxicated, according to District Attorney Gary M. Pasqua.
Dawn Farley was convicted Oct. 23 in connection with an incident Jan. 17, when she drove her 2021 Dodge Ram truck from the Timeout Lounge to her home in Gouverneur while intoxicated, Pasqua said.
Evidence presented at trial showed that staff members at the lounge attempted to prevent Farley from driving out of the parking lot.
Farley is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 5, 2027. She faces a maximum sentence of 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison. The conviction marks her second DWI offense, according to DA Pasqua.
He said the conviction reflects his office’s commitment to public safety and preventing impaired drivers from endangering others.
“Members of our community should not have to worry about other drivers putting their lives in danger while trying to get to work, dropping their children off at school or simply trying to get home after a long day,” Pasqua said.
He said his office would pursue all available measures to prevent Farley from driving while intoxicated again, including the seizure and forfeiture of her vehicle.
Pasqua also praised Assistant District Attorneys Dillon Bullard and Matthew Peabody for their work prosecuting the case and thanked New York State Police for assisting with the prosecution.
