North Country This Week
MASSENA — Two Massena Town Board seats are up for grabs this fall and four candidates have been nominated to vie for those seats.
Massena Republicans nominated Lindsay Hendricks and Sabina De La Porte for the two seats, while Democrats nominated Kristy Baker and Raymond Lancto.
Those two seats are currently occupied by Debra Willer and Francis Carvel, both of whom chose to not seek another term on the board.
Jeannine Miller was also nominated by Republicans for another term as town clerk during the caucus held last week.
Miller has held the seat since 2020, following the retirement of Pamela Catanzarite. She had previously served as deputy clerk since 2016.
Eric Sharlow was nominated by Democrats for another term as town justice.
Shelyn Peets was nominated for a one-year unexpired term as village trustee. If elected, she would fulfill the remaining year on Francis Carvel’s term. Carvel won the seat for a one-year unexpired term last year, replacing Tom Miller.
