OGDENSBURG – After more than 30 years building high-performing teams and delivering exceptional customer experiences in the technology industry, entrepreneur Carolann Jacobs is bringing that leadership experience to the skilled trades with the launch of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of the North Country.
The locally owned business will provide trusted residential plumbing services throughout St. Lawrence and Jefferson Counties while investing in the people and communities it serves.
The public is invited to the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce for a Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of the North Country, 9830 State Highway 37 (formerly RiverMyst Winery), Ogdensburg.
For Jacobs, the decision to open the business was driven by a simple belief: homeowners deserve better.
"Like many people, I've waited all day for a contractor who never showed up. I've experienced poor communication, surprise bills, and work that wasn't done right the first time," said Jacobs. "I remember thinking, it shouldn't be this hard. We're building the kind of company I'd want as my own neighbor—one that shows up when it says it will, communicates clearly, respects your home, and earns your trust."
While Benjamin Franklin Plumbing is known nationally for its commitment to punctuality and customer service, Jacobs' vision extends beyond plumbing. The company is being built to create meaningful careers in the skilled trades, providing employees with opportunities for professional development, advancement, and long-term success without leaving the North Country.
"I've spent my career building great teams," Jacobs said. "Now I have the opportunity to do that here at home. We believe that taking care of customers begins with taking care of our employees. When we invest in our people, they invest in our customers, and together we build stronger communities."
Looking ahead, Jacobs envisions Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of the North Country becoming a regional leader in skilled-trades workforce development. By investing in training, professional development, and clear career pathways, the company aims to create lasting opportunities for local tradespeople while helping meet the growing demand for skilled home service professionals throughout the region.
Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of the North Country offers residential plumbing repair and installation, water heater services, drain cleaning, heating and air conditioning, whole-home water treatment solutions, and emergency plumbing services. The company is locally owned and operated and proudly serves homeowners throughout the North Country.
"Good neighbors take care of each other," Jacobs said. "That's the kind of company we're building, and we look forward to serving the North Country for many years to come."
