Former North Country Congressman Owens endorses Cobb for Congress

Former North Country Congressman William Owens, D-Plattsburgh, is endorsing Tedra Cobb of Canton for Congress.

Owens represented the North Country congressional district from 2009 to 2014 when he chose not to seek a new term.

Cobb, a Democrat, is facing incumbent Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, for the North Country 21st District. Cobb lost to Stefanik in the 2018 election.

“I am pleased to announce my endorsement of Tedra Cobb in the November election to the House of Representatives from New York’s 21st Congressional District. As the former Democratic Member of Congress in NY-21, I know how important it is to elect someone who understands the issues facing our communities and who has a proven record of working across the aisle to get things done,” Owens said in his endorsement statement. “When the North Country votes this November they have a clear choice: Elise Stefanik who has become party focused ignoring the concerns of a large portion of her constituents or they can choose Tedra who worked across the aisle to pass a tough ethics law, to lower the cost of prescription drugs, and to help struggling families with home heating assistance. For me, the choice is clear.”

“As a member of the North Country community for more than 30 years, Tedra has dedicated her life to serving her community. She served as a volunteer firefighter, educator and started a community health agency that provided access to preventative screenings and follow-up care to thousands.”

“Tedra is a formidable opponent for this seat and has a proven track record of getting things done in this community. I am proud to endorse her candidacy for Congress.”
