To the Editor:
Our environmental group, Living Lightly on the EARTH, has now been meeting for several months via a weekly conference call Sundays at 7PM. Climate Crisis issues are frequently raised at our meetings.
Our conference call last Sunday hosted guest presenter, Matthew Menzies, a climate justice advocate associated with Extinction Rebellion, NYC, a high profile climate action organization.
As our own concerns have grown, the need for public education has come to the fore in our discussions.
One of our Group's members, Greg Todd, formerly NYC now of Canton, NY, has asked that Living Lightly members write letters supporting the idea of local newspapers hosting a series of guest editorials exploring Climate Crisis issues and action alternatives.
Increased education can be an essential means of awakening a tragically uninformed public to the present and future realities of an increasingly unstable and often-times hazardous and/or destructive climate.
Our Group's hope is that a weekly guest editorial will soon be an EARTH-Friendly addition to our local newspapers. We the members of "Living Lightly" are ready, willing, and able to contribute guest editorials. In a Community-wide effort to make an ongoing Climate Crisis series a weekly educational reality.
