Douglas E. Hamilton, Jr., 45, Massena

MASSENA – Douglas E. Hamilton, Jr., 45, of Grove Street, unexpectedly passed away early Friday morning, May 31, 2024, at Massena Hospital.

Doug was born October 10, 1978, in Ogdensburg, the son of Douglas Sr. and Deborah (Tresidder) Hamilton.

He was a graduate of Hermon-Dekalb Central School and continued his education at Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania earning his Bachelor's Degree.

He recently graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with his Master’s Degree.

On May 24, 2015, he married Sean P. Lynch in Massena.

Doug was currently the Deputy Commissioner of the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services, previously working for the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe Family Support Department.

Doug has previously worked for the Children’s Home in Watertown, Rose Hill, and Clarkson University.

He loved to travel, having recently traveled to Mexico. Doug also enjoyed golfing and anything related to pets.

Doug is survived by his husband, Sean; his parents, Douglas and Deborah of Hermon; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Lynch of Massena; his maternal grandmother, Molly Tresidder of Russell; and his beloved dogs, Rodo, Saya, and Ori. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Robin Tresidder, Kelly and Gerald O’Shea, Christine and Tyron Bristol, Roger and Barb Tresidder, Scott and Abigail Tresidder, Kimberly and Robert Kirkpatrick, Richard Tresidder, Mary Francisco, Lettie Maykowski, Marc and Shelly Hamilton, and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Erwin and Lillian Hamilton and his maternal grandfather, Robert Tresidder.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where friends may call Friday 1-4:00 PM with a service celebrating his life beginning at 4:00 PM with Rev. Judy VanKennan.
