Douglas A. Taillon, 80, Louisville

LOUISVILLE- Douglas A. Taillon, 80, of 133 Fisher Road, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at his home.

Douglas was born on June 3, 1944, in Massena, son of the late Douglas and Maude (DeCaire) Taillon.

He was a graduate of Massena Central School and entered the US Air Force in 1963 and was a Titan II Missile Silo Specialist until his honorable discharge in 1967.

He married Dalyce A. Burnham on June 24, 1978, at the First United Methodist Church of Massena.

Doug retired as a tool and die maker at General Motors where he was employed for over 38 years.

He enjoyed hunting, golfing and playing bridge. He loved watching his children and grandchildren in their chosen sport, but football was a passion.

He was a football referee for Section X high school football for over 30 years. He also coached varsity football at Holy Family High School as well as wrestling and girls’ varsity basketball.

His love of football was also noted in his dedication to the Pop-Warner program in Massena for over 20 years as a coach. He was also instrumental in starting the Massena Pee-Wee wrestling program with friends, and officiated high school wrestling for over 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Dalyce; eight children, Tosha Riley of Arkansas; Douglas James Taillon of Virginia; Timothy David Taillon of North Carolina; Tessie Melinda (Kevin) Moore of Texas; AJ (Kayla) Taillon of Louisville; Marshall Taillon, Kathleen Taillon and Dougie Taillon; his daughter-in-law, Glena Hicks; and 13 grandchildren, Zane Riley, Sierra (Nathan) Owen, Chad (Tiffany) Taillon, Taylor (Wayne) Bodine, Kamryn Moore, Kord (Kayley) Moore, Kenny Moore, Austin Taillon, Looram Taillon, Jaxx Taillon, Ellah-May Taillon, Mila Huybregts, Ariel (Ben) Taillon and BreAnn French.

He is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Madison, Zach, Rooney, Jordyn, CJ, Dean, Benjamin, Milo. Emmitt and Myles; his brother Dick (Arlene) Sharpsten of Syracuse; sister, Bethel Ware of Massena; cousin, John & Tina Taillon of Canton along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Douglas was predeceased by his parents, Douglas and Maude; his son, Terry Taillon and his brother, John Taillon.

There will be no public calling hours.

A Memorial Mass will be held on July 12, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence Church in Louisville.

A benefit golf scramble will be held at Raymondville Golf Course on Sunday, July 14, 2024, in his honor.
