Donald Bernard Nolan Sr., “Buford”, 82, Norfolk

NORFOLK -- Donald Bernard Nolan Sr., “Buford”, 82 of Norfolk died on Thursday, July 25, 2024, in the comfort of his home, where he was surrounded by his family while under the care of St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.

Donald was born June 23, 1942, in Cazenovia, NY, a son of the late Bernard D. and Bernice (Wheeler) Nolan.

He attended school in Cazenovia and Massena. In his younger years, Don worked on a farm with his mother, the railroad and for the Sylvania TV Company.

Don served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963.

On May 13, 1961, Don married Connie Anson, and the couple has shared 63 years together.

In October of 1969, Don began working for the Reynold’s Company in Massena, from which he retired as an Anode Tender and Safety Steward.

When he was younger, Don enjoyed hunting and trapping but as time passed, he became quite the avid fisherman.

In addition to his beloved wife, Connie, Donald is survived by a son, Donald Jr. (Ann); a daughter, Christine; grandchildren, Matthew (Elizabeth), Donald III (Gayle), Jessica, Christie (Travis) and Mariah (Matthew); great-grandchildren Madison, Morgan, Matthew, Patrick, Brayden, Laden, Lilyanna, Hunter, Harper and Cordelia. Also surviving are a cousin who was more like a brother, Ernest (Nancy) Samphier.

There will be a calling hour on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m.
