MASSENA -- Domenick Ferro, 80, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Domenick was born July 6, 1943, in Calabria, Italy, the son of the late Vincenzo and Concetta (Manago) Ferro.
He moved to the United States at a young age, settling in the New York City area.
He married Phyllis Cortese in 1969 at the Church of the Sacred Heart.
Domenick was an artist in the graphic arts industry working for Astoria Graphics in Manhattan for many years.
He had a great love for food and cooking and enjoyed sharing that love with others.
He also enjoyed hobby carpentry and spending time with his family. Domenick loved the season of Christmas – he wrapped himself into the holiday by decorating, baking, movies, and sounds of the season.
Domenick is survived by his children, Dominick and Darcie Ferro of Massena, Anne Marie Ferro of Massena, and Stephanie and Bryon Remo of Farmington, Connecticut; his grandchildren, Anthony, David, and Seth; his step-grandchildren, Miranda, Jake, Amelia, and Lucy; his great grandchildren, Madison and Eli; his step great granddaughter, Mae; his sisters, Rosa Santagata and Lydia Taverna; his brother, Augustine and Theresa Ferro; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Mike Ferro and a sister, Mary DePerna.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena where friends may call Thursday 1-3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider memorial contributions to be made in his memory to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
