Colton Town Supervisor's June Colton report

To the Editor:

We are now ready to open the Transfer Station by next week. Almost everything is done. Thank you to the Highway Department for doing the blacktopping. Super job and thanks to Kevin and the crew. We now have a very workable building.

The stonework on the outside was done to save money and aesthetics as well. If the building was hit and dented, the repair would be much cheaper by replacing one or two stones instead of the whole area of siding. If a certain individual knew anything about construction, the person would understand this and cease with the same criticism time and again.

The library is looking great and was very well done. This building is a major historical landmark in our town and looks very stately. We should always keep this building looking in top shape inside and out. This is the town of Colton's responsibility, and we need to thank Heart Cabinetries, Bonno Builders and the Library Board for doing a very professional job. It is great to work with people that truly care.

As Supervisor of Colton, I would like to congratulate the graduating seniors for a job well done and wish you good luck in your future endeavors. The Town Board and I are very proud of the Senior Class 2024.

Lazy Hazy Days of Colton will be the weekend of July 27th-28th. The parade begins at 10 a.m. on July 27th beginning at Cold Brook Drive. I'm hoping everyone can be there and possibly participate in some way.

We are also going to host an ATV Side by Side ride on Saturday, June 15, to be sponsored by the Colton-Pierrepont Amvets Post 262 and Camp Serenity for Wounded Warriors. Registration will be from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. at the Amvets.

The ride will begin at Amvets, continue to Camp Serenity and then on to Parishville Amvets and back to Colton-Pierrepont Amvets at around 4:00 p.m. This ride is open to anyone, providing they have the required insurance and trail pass.

After the ride, the Amvets will be sponsoring a pig roast, along with raffles, auctions and live music by Ed McCarthy. All proceeds will go to Wounded Warrior/Camp Serenity. Hope to see everyone there.

I wish everyone a fun and safe summer.
