MASSENA — Belly Buttons the Clown, Big Bubble magic, a reptile show, art classes and an independent reading program are among the offerings at Massena Public Library this summer.
Messy science programs ”Fizzy Paint for ages 3-5 on July 3 at 2 p.m. and ‘Lava Lamps’ for ages 6-9 on July 17 at 2 p.m. will be held at Massena Public Library.
Belly Buttons the Clown will entertain all ages with her magical show Friday, July 5, at 10 a.m. at Massena Public Library.
Jeff Boyer’s Big Bubble Bonanza show for all ages will be held Thursday, July 11, at 10 a.m. at Massena Public Library. The world-famous Guiness Book of World Records-holding, master bubble wrangler will mix comedy, music and bubble-making.
Reptiles and amphibians will be visiting the Massena Public Library Thursday, July 18, at 10 a.m. Zowie Auger, with her Her-petology show, will give an interactive and educational experience to teach the audience about specific animals and conservation topics.
‘Adventures through Art’ class for ages 5 and up will be offered Mondays from July 8 through August 5 from 2-3 p.m. at the Massena Public Library downstairs in Room B. Local artist will Kris Rozelle will run the program, with Australian Boomerangs July 8, Paper marbling July 15, Tongan tiki totem sculptures July 22, Collage from nature July 29, and 3D space planet canvases Aug. 5. The Summer Reading Program at Massena Public Library runs through July 26. This year’s theme is ‘Adventure begins at your library.’Free books, ice cream and raffle prizes will be given as incentives for the independent reading program. One raffle ticket will be given out for every 60 points earned to enter for prizes through July 25.

To register for ages 0-4, select the Pre-K 2024 section; ages 5-12 is in the Children’s 2024 section; ages 13-17 is in the Teens 2024 section.
Storytimes for ages 2 and under will be offered Mondays in July from 10:00-10:30 a.m.
Family Storytime for ages 2+ will be held Tuesdays in July from 10:00-10:30 a.m.
Tween Book Club for ages 9-12 meets Thursdays through July 25. To register: lmarolf@ncls.org
Lego Club meets Thursday through July 25 for ages 6-12. To register: lmarolf@ncls.org
A bookmark design contest for ages 4-17 runs through July 17 at the library. Each participant will earn a prize. One winner from each age group will receive a basket of goodies and their bookmark will be printed and distributed. Submission sheets are available in the Children’s room or online.
