MADRID — The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce said that the Craft, Food & Wine Open-Air Market, held on Saturday, September 21, was a resounding success, drawing over 3,400 attendees — the highest number in the event’s history.

Now in its 5th year, this event showcased more than 80 unique artisans and producers, surpassing previous participation levels.

“This year’s market exceeded all our expectations,” said Kathryn Puleo, tourism & events manager and event coordinator for the Chamber. “The turnout was extraordinary, highlighting our community's commitment to shopping local. Our vendors were delighted with their sales and the engagement they experienced, and we received overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees and the museum staff alike. Many visitors praised the event layout, expressing appreciation for the improved flow and overall atmosphere.”

Puleo emphasized the meticulous planning that has contributed to the event’s ongoing success. “We curate a diverse selection of handmade, local products, striving to offer something for everyone across various price points. This year, we also re-evaluated the museum’s new parking layout, making adjustments to enhance accessibility for both parking and entrance areas, and we added more prepared food options on-site.”

“With a record number of vendors and an enthusiastic crowd, it’s clear that our community truly values the experiences we provide,” Puleo added.

Attendees enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere at the St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum, exploring an impressive range of local products against the backdrop of historic exhibits. Many visitors noted it was their first time at the museum, adding to the day’s excitement.

Puleo highlighted the strong partnership between the Chamber and the museum, stating, “This collaboration is vital to our event's success and helps foster a sense of community pride.”

The Chamber extends heartfelt gratitude to its Leadership Circle Members for their continued support: Alcoa, NBT Bank, St. Lawrence Health, St. Lawrence University, The Arc of Jefferson-St. Lawrence County, and United Helpers, along with complimentary waste removal services provided by Casella Waste Management and sponsorship from St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union.
