GOUVERNEUR – The Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County Fair is underway and will bring barnyard Olympics, pro wrestling and livestock competitions to Gouverneur, with carnival rides starting Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The 2026 Gouverneur Fair will feature a full schedule of 4-H activities, livestock shows, demonstrations, entertainment and competitions from Saturday, Aug. 1, through Sunday, Aug. 9. An up-to-date schedule can be found at https://gouverneurfair.net/index.php/events .
The fair opened with 4-H project evaluations on Aug. 1.
The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday
Tuesday, Aug. 4, marks the official opening of the fair. Final cattle check-in will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 4-H Youth Building will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and FFA activities and demonstrations will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Livestock events Tuesday include the 4-H Goat Show at 10 a.m., the 4-H Rabbit Show at 2 p.m., and 4-H and FFA Dairy Fitting at 3 p.m. All exhibits and animals must be in place by 10 a.m.
The fair officially opens at 4 p.m., with food and games available. Rides will not be open until later in the week. Club booth judging will take place at 4 p.m., followed by the 4-H Scavenger Hunt at 6 p.m. and the Talent Show at 6:30 p.m. in the Grandstand.
Wednesday
Wednesday, Aug. 5, is 4-H Spirit Day, with participants encouraged to wear 4-H gear. The Youth Building will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Events include the 4-H and Open Beef Show at 10 a.m., FFA activities throughout the day, the Carlton Peck Band Day, Dairy Showmanship at noon, the first Flower Show at noon, and the 4-H and Open Sheep Show at 2 p.m.
Additional Wednesday events include the High School Bands Parade at 1:30 p.m., rides opening at 2 p.m., the Dairy Costume Class at 4 p.m., the Sheep Lead Class at 6:30 p.m. and the Firemen’s Parade at 7 p.m.
Thursday
Thursday, Aug. 6, will feature the 4-H and Open All Breeds Dairy Heifer Show at 9 a.m., harness racing at noon, the 4-H and Open Poultry Show at 2 p.m., rides opening at 2 p.m., and 4-H horse check-in at 6 p.m. East Coast Pro Wrestling will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Grandstand. Tickets are $15.
Friday
Friday, Aug. 7, includes the 4-H and Open All Breed Dairy Cattle Show at 9 a.m., the 4-H Western, Ranch and Gymkhana Horse Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and FFA activities from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The second Flower Show will take place at noon in the Youth Building. Rides open at 2 p.m. Barnyard Olympics will begin at 6 p.m. in the Show Ring. The New York Hot Farm Pulling Series will be held at 4 p.m. in the Grandstand, with tickets priced at $15.
Saturday
Saturday, Aug. 8, events include the Draft Horse Pull at 10 a.m., FFA activities from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the 4-H Dog Show at 1 p.m., rides opening at 2 p.m., and a concert featuring Chase Matthew with Tyler Braden at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 for track standing-only admission and $75 at the gate.
Sunday
The fair concludes Sunday, Aug. 9, with an 8 a.m. church service in the Dairy Show Ring, the 4-H English Horse Show at 9 a.m., Youth Building and FFA activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rides opening at 2 p.m., and the Demolition Derby at 1 p.m. Tickets for the derby are $15.
Release of animals and exhibits will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
