CANTON – A 5-megawatt solar project on Rt. 11 north just outside the Village of Canton was met with approval by the Town of Canton Planning Board on Sept. 15.
TJA Clean Energy plans to build the solar facility across from the St. Lawrence Health medical complex on Rt. 11.
On Sept. 8, the planning board approved another 5-megawatt solar project at 95 Judson Street on a 40-acre parcel owned by Tracy and Carol Sheesley, owners of the Cowbell Acres dairy farm.
Both projects just now go through the payment-in-lieu of taxes process with the St. Lawrence County Industrial Agency and a community benefit agreement with the town of Canton.
