CANTON — Canton Central School will educate students fully remotely through Jan. 4 following the report of four confirmed COVID-19 cases among the student body, said a press release from school superintendent Ronald P. Burke Monday, Dec. 14.
“Today, we were notified of four confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. The cases involve one elementary student, one middle school student and two high school students,” Burke said. “Using the guidelines of Public Health, our school staff has been notifying individuals of possible exposure and that they should remain at home until contacted by Public Health.”
Burke’s announcement said staffing issues at all three buildings led to the decision to go fully remote.
Students who attend Seaway Tech will attend those classes in-person, and students who attend out-of-district Special Education programs will attend in-person, Burke said.
The superintendent said students who attend the BOCES ABA program at Canton will remain remote until further notice.
