CANTON — Canton Central School is asking local residents for their feedback on how to spend federal stimulus funds.
Canton Central will receive more than $2 million in federal aid through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA).
The funds must be spent by September 2023 and APRA funds must be spent by September 2024.
State and federal guidelines require that districts prioritize non-recurring spending. “This is to prevent the hiring of new staff that cannot be sustained when the federal funds expire,” school officials said. “Rather, the investment plan needs to demonstrate that these funds will continue to provide benefits to students after the money is no longer available.”
Federal and state guidance identifies categories for spending. Participants are asked to identify their top three priorities and share creative ideas.
Surveys will be collected through Wednesday, May 26, 2021. To take the survey, visit https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc6mAnguNPQSQ-I7t2Jd5ALOHNKMilF1xhWzEfykimtUDDMdg/viewform.
