Bryant W. Sandburg, 87, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- Mass of Christian Burial for Bryant W. Sandburg, age 87 of Ogdensburg will be held on Friday at 10:00am at St. Mary's Cathedral with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ogdensburg.

Calling hours will be held also on Thursday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Mr. Sandburg passed away on Saturday June 1, 2024, at the Canton Potsdam Hospital.

Surviving are his wife, Myrna of Ogdensburg; two daughters, Brenda Sandburg of Manhattan, Sharon Schneider of Yorktown, VA; brothers, David (Linda) Sandburg of Daytona Beach, FL, Michael Sandburg of San Diego, CA; sisters, Patricia Buck of Mechanicsburg, PA, Kathleen (Johnathan) Saunders of TN and Molly Waddell of Sherrill, NY; two grandchildren, Ryan & Emily Schneider along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Two brother-in-laws, James Buck and Howard Waddell predeceased him.

Bryant was born on December 20, 1936, in Ogdensburg a son of James & Margaret (Bryant) Sandburg.

He graduated from St. Mary's Academy and continued his education at St. Bonaventure University earning a degree in Business administration.

He was later married to Myrna H. Ryan on August 31, 1957, at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Francis White celebrating their marriage.

He began his career as a radio broadcaster in Olean, NY, a broadcaster for WSLB in Ogdensburg, an advertising agency in Pittsburgh, co-operated Morning Star Homes with his brother David, Raxis International as their director of marketing and software development, salesman for a Texas based manufactured home dealer, and rejoined the team at WSLB as a salesman until 2001. In 2008 he went to work for Light House Catholic Media, the largest distributor of Catholic content until 2019.

He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary's Cathedral and US Army Reserves.
