OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg police have two people in custody after an ambulance was stolen and crashed, and a traffic stop escalated into a stand-off in separate incidents Monday afternoon.
Ogdensburg Police Chief Mark Kearns said an Ogdensburg Rescue Squad ambulance was stolen and crashed this afternoon at about 3:17 p.m.
The vehicle wrecked near the corner of Mansion Ave and Cedar Street.
The suspect was taken into custody.
Prior to that, Ogdensburg police had a brief stand-off during a traffic stop at the intersection of State Highway 68 and Route 37.
Kearns said the vehicle had two occupants. The driver was compliant but the passenger who had an outstanding warrant was not.
Kearns said following a short stand off a peaceful resolution was reached.
Kearns said the suspect was taken into custody without any serious problems.
Reports of an alleged stabbing related to the incident were unfounded, he said.
More information is expected later, according to Kearns.
