OGDENSBURG -- A Hannawa Falls man who stole an ambulance and crashed it into a shed will face prison time.
St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua says Yengi R. Lado, 27, has been ordered to pay $250,000 in restitution and will serve 4 to 12 years for the crime.
Lado stole an ambulance parked outside Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center on Feb. 28, 2022 and later drove the vehicle through a garage at the intersection of Mansion Avenue and State Highway 37.
He was convicted Oct. 3 in a trial by jury on second-degree grand larceny charges.
Lado has already been incarcerated at a correctional facility on an unrelated matter, Pasqua said.
DA Pasqua said he was proud of the hard work of Assistant District Attorney Dominik Maida, and Chief Assistant District Attorney Sara Charpentier throughout the prosecution.
He also thanked Ogdensburg police, Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue, the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office and state police for their assistance in the matter.
