DEKALB – The jazz band, the 5 Dots, will perform on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Meetinghouse Museum, 696 E. DeKalb Rd.

The concert is free and part of the DeKalb Historical Association annual summer series.  Come early for the yard sale on the grounds.

The five members, Hailey Hodge, Steve Manders, James Galasinski, John Danis and Tim Savage,  have been performing together for two years and will play a wide variety of jazz from Swing, Bebop and Cool Jazz to Latin and Fusion.

“Jazz is an art form that needs to be heard, felt and experienced live,” Galasinski said.

The Rev. Galasinski recruited members initially for a Jazz and Coffee Nights at the Unitarian Universal Church in Canton, and they now perform throughout the North Country.

Tim Savage plays the keyboard, John Danis adds vocals and electric wind instrument, while Steve Manders drums. Galasinski plays bass with Hailey the latest member to join the ensemble.

The band will perform original pieces they have composed.

One entitled, Search of 5 Dots gave the group its name.
