MASSENA – A private healthcare company is looking to open a walk-in urgent care clinic in the Harte Haven Plaza.

Wellnow Urgent Care planning to build a new 3,500-square-foot building at 94 Grove St. It will be between Burger King and the Massena Arena, next to state Route 37.

“We’re still pretty early in the process,” said Annie Keller, Wellnow public relations manager. “They’re finalizing site plans at the moment. Construction is due to start this summer, very soon.”

She said they will be advertising to hire people, but they haven’t decided how many yet. Keller initially offered an estimate of how many people they may hire, but later said it's too early to know how many hires they're looking at.

The clinic “treats a range of non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries,” Keller said, and they also do school sports physicals with on site x-rays. They will also offer COVID-19 PCR testing with same-day or next-day results. People will also be able to get treatment for things like sprains, burns, lacerations, colds and allergies. Appointments won’t be required.

Additional procedures such as stitches, incision and drainage, X-rays, IV fluids or medications will result in an additional charge to the base visit fee. Full payment using either cash, check or a credit card is required at the time of service, Keller said.

She said they take most insurances, with a complete list on their website, https://wellnow.com/your-visit/insurance-by-state/. She said the self-pay rates are also on the website.
