Two new cases of COVID-19 reported in St. Lawrence County

Two new cases of COVID-19 were reported to the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department today (Thursday, May 7), bringing the total number of confirmed positive cases to-date to 189.

Public Health reported that 140 cases have been released from isolation, and four cases are currently hospitalized.

Two deaths have occurred countywide; this fatality data comes from the New York State Department of Health and was last updated on May 7 before 2 p.m.

Public Health said 2,395 people have been tested for COVID-19 as of May 7; this testing data comes from the New York State Department of Health and was last updated on May 7 before 2 p.m.

Testing is being done through both St. Lawrence Health Systems and Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Testing is by appointment only. Please call the hotline numbers below between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. if you have symptoms or feel you should be tested:

• Clifton-Fine Hospital, 315-848-8049;

• St. Lawrence County Public Health Department, 315-229-3448.

It is very important that all residents continue to stay home as much as possible, wear a face covering and stay 6 feet away from others when venturing out for groceries, medical care, or work, wash hands with soap for 20 seconds often, and clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces regularly, said Public Health.
