The threat of showers and thunderstorms will increase later this morning in St. Lawrence County and continue through this evening before gradually decreasing in areal coverage overnight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

A concentrated area of showers and storms will develop over the Saint Lawrence

Valley late in the day and continue into the first part of the night, forecasters say.

The main threats will be heavy downpours and frequent lightning, the service says.

The high today will be around 85 with heat index values as high 90, forecasters say. Wind gusts will be as high as 22 miles per hour.

Showers are likely and a possible thunderstorm before 11 p.m. is in the forecast, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 p.m.

The overnight low will be around 67.
