CANTON – The halls at St. Catherine of Siena Academy will be a bit more bustling in the fall.

The academy announced this week that they will be adding Pre-Kindergarten to the full-day curriculum.

“After seeing a 50 percent enrollment increase this past academic year, Siena Academy is expanding course offerings to include Pre-K through 6th grade for the 2023-2024 school year with plans to continue expanding each year,” said Liesel Schoenberger Doty, St. Catherine of Siena Academy Governing Board. “Pre-K will be offered five days a week for the full school day.”

St. Catherine of Siena Academy, 2 Powers St., is a Classical School in the Catholic Tradition featuring a Liberal Arts and Sciences curriculum.

Interested families for all grade levels are invited to an open house on Friday, April 21, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

“The school’s low student to teacher ratio means that spaces are limited so it is recommended families apply as soon as possible,” said Doty. “Families can expect to see the school’s time-tested classical curriculum in action, meet current students and teachers and enjoy some refreshments.”

To register, visit www.sienaacademy.org/openhouse. Walk-ins are also welcome and school tours are available upon request by emailing infoatscsa@gmail.com .

The school received approval from the New York State Department of Education in March 2021 and opened for the school year in September. The initial enrollment was for grades kindergarten to fourth grade.

The academy filled the void for a Catholic-based education left when St. Mary’s School closed its doors in June of 2019 after 90 years of educating elementary school students.
