The Massena Central Board of Education is seeking six community members to serve on the advisory committee for a study “to determine if there is a better way educationally and fiscally to reconfigure our grades and facilities to support our instructional program now and in the future,” according to a news release from the district.
They will conduct the facility and grade organization study during the 2017-18 school year. School officials anticipate the committee will meet in the evening, with a time to be determined, on Sept. 20, Nov. 1, Dec. 20, Jan. 31, March 1, April 11 and May 30, with a presentation to the school board on June 21.
The board has selected the Castallo & Silky consultant firm to lead the study.
“In order to provide the most open and objective process, they plan to work with a stakeholder committee comprised of various people within the school and community. The board is sincerely interested in obtaining the perspectives of this community,” the release says.
Interested community members should contact Candy Prairie in the Massena Central School District Office by Aug. 1, via email cprairie@mcs.k12.ny.us or phone (315) 764-3700, ext. 3008.
The board discussed the study at their Wednesday meeting. More details about that are at goo.gl/SkVmeU.
