Showers in St. Lawrence County have been moving in since daybreak and will continue on and off today with the chance of thunderstorms developing this afternoon and tonight along with possibly gusty winds. The warm trend continues with highs expected to reach into the mid 70s today, and lows tonight in the mid 50s, the National Weather Service says.

Tuesday expect it to be cooler with more showers, highs in the 60s and calmer winds.

Forecasters expect the sun to reappear Wednesday with highs in the 70s.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Today: Intermittent showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2pm and 5pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 76. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

• Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63. West wind around 6 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. West wind 3 to 6 mph.
