MASSENA — A Massena family wants you to help them grow their garden.

Jason and Tammy Phelps and members of their family have created a rock garden in their front yard to help cheer people up.

The family decided that it would be a great idea to bring some kind of positivity to our community, said Jason Phelps.

“They believe that sometimes a simple message of love can turn a frown upside down and brighten someone's entire day,” he said.

Helping with the rock garden were his children Meladee Dupuis, James Dupuis, Trevor Kemison and Shalena Kemison, along with their grandson Theo Phelps and their son's girlfriend Ally Eckstein.

Jason and Tammy built the garden, while the others worked on getting the rocks painted.

The rock garden is located on Stoughton Avenue.

“My wife's big outlook on it all is there has been so much depression and and suicide and even overdoses lately,” he said. Because you just don't know what someone's going through. So maybe this will help brighten their day.”

Mr. Phelps said the project has brought the family smiles and gave them something to do as a family.

“A simple message at just the right moment can change someone's entire day, and their outlook on life,” Mrs. Phelps said. “Stay positive and enjoy life.”
