POTSDAM -- The village board will have to change the date of a hearing on a term limits proposal.
At their meeting Monday, Trustees Steve Warr, Eleanor Hopke and Nick Sheehan, along with Mayor Ron Tischler, voted to set the hearing for Feb. 20, but that is President’s Day, a holiday for village workers.
Village Clerk Lori Queor says the board will probably re-set the date to Feb. 21, the date of the second regular meeting of February.
To do that, she says, they will have to take a vote at their next regular meeting on Feb. 4 to set the hearing for Feb. 21.
The trustees and the mayor are considering setting term limits for their positions. The discussion will likely center on a proposal for two two-year trustee terms and two four-year terms for mayor, trustees said Monday.
