GOUVERNEUR -- Aerial spraying for mosquitoes is scheduled to take place in the village, weather permitting, during the early evening of Thursday, Aug. 22. If wind or rain is occurring or forecast, spraying will be rescheduled.
A twin-engine blue, white and gold Piper Aztec airplane will do the spraying.
The insecticide that is being used is the same one that was used in the village in 2011 and again last year. It is a “plant derived insecticide that is nearly odorless and very safe and effective to use,” according to the announcement from the village.
“Such a small quantity of it is used you will not even notice any kind of misting on leaves, plants, etc. The only way you’ll know it has been done is if you hear the plane as it flies overhead,” the announcement said.
