Massena Library offerings in January

MASSENA – Strength training for seniors, digitizing your memories, sewing, knitting and basket making and a children’s lego club are among the offerings at Massena Public Library in January.

• Geri-Fit strength training for seniors is held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 - 4 p.m.in the library screening room. It is a video-led fitness program conducted by the Geri-Fit instructors via DVD workouts. Most exercises will be performed in a chair and you will not have to get on the floor. Contact the library for more information or to register.

• Digitize your memories with a free training session to preserve your video tapes, color slides, color negatives, music albums, 45’s or cassette tapes. Call the library for more information.

• Knitting group meets Wednesday evenings 6:30-7:45 p.m. around the library fireplace; Open sewing lab meets Wed. and Sat. starting at 9:30 in the downstairs community room.

• A “Basket Making Class” will be offered Thur, Jan 19, starting at 10 a.m.in the downstairs community room. Ann French will assist in making a heart-shaped Valentine’s basket. Cost is $30. The workshop is limited to ten participants. To enroll contact the library at 769-9914.

• “Friday Afternoon at the Movies” will show the movie “Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris” Friday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. It is a 2022 historical comedy-drama.

• Library Book Club will meet Tues, Jan. 24, from 6:30-8 p.m. to discuss “One Summer: America, 1927” by Bill Bryson, based on a 2013 non-fiction book. You can obtain a copy of the book through interlibrary loan.

• Lego Club meets Saturday, Jan. 7 and 28 from 10-11:15 a.m. for children ages 6+ and their caregivers.

• Read a book with Beethoven, a therapy dog, for ages 4-17 and their caregiver is offered on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Stop in or call 315-769-9914 for available dates.

• Babies Music and Movement for ages birth to 2 years is held on Mondays, Jan. 9 and Jan. 23, from 10 -10:30 a.m. Family Story Hour is on Thursdays Jan. 12, 19, and 26 from 10-10:30 a.m. for families with mixed ages.

• Roll for Initiative,” a Dungeons and Dragons storytelling game that is acted out, is being offered for Teens ages 14-18 on Jan. 11, Jan. 25, Feb. 8 and Feb. 22 from 5-7 p.m. It is also offered for Tweens ages 10-13 on Jan. 4, Jan. 18, Feb. 1 and Feb. 15 from 5-7 p.m. Call 315-769-9914 to register.
