POTSDAM – Fundraising is underway at the Potsdam Public Library to help fund the library’s renovation project and to support the collection.
The library is close to securing its last piece of funding, said a press release from the Friends of the Potsdam Library.
With its third NYS Grant application, the library’s renovation project budget is nearly $1 million, allowing restoration of the building to its historic beauty, add space, computers, an enclosed children's area, and modernize the infrastructure.
Every dollar given by the public is matched with three more from the state toward the renovation project, the press release said.
To give online, visit potsdamlibrary.org/donate, or contribute to the library’s Facebook donation page #GivingTuesday fundraiser.
To give by mail, send a check to the Friends of the Potsdam Public Library, 2 Park Street, Potsdam 13676.
The Potsdam Public Library draws 102,284 visitors annually.
Items checked out number 123,472, from a 73,107 collection of materials. There are 6,812 total cardholders and the library enjoyed 637 new cardholders over the last year.
Over 6,000 patrons attended hundreds of library classes and events this year, the press release said.
The annual value of library services is estimated at $2.2 million.
