MASSENA — Town officials took action on a number of appointments and resolutions during the town board’s organizational meeting on Jan. 3.

Deputy Supervisor Pat Facteau will continue on in the same role after previously being appointed to the position last year by Town Supervisor Sue Bellor.

Brenda Mossow will continue on in her role as secretary and bookkeeper for the town.

Newcomer to the board Francis Carvel was also sworn in during the meeting. He will complete a one-year unexpired term as a town board member after winning election in November.

Carvel comes to the town board after serving 14 years on the Massena Village Board. He was previously the Superintendent of the Department of Public Works for the Village of Massena before retiring from the position.

Debra Willer was sworn in to complete a one-year unexpired term as well following her victory in November.

Willer came to the board last year as an appointee by Bellor after Bellor ascended to her current role as town supervisor.

Willer previously worked at Massena Hospital, retiring as Director of Respiratory Care in 2015. Willer is a 40-year veteran in respiratory care.

In other action, town officials once again appointed Eric Gustafson as Massena town attorney.

North Country This Week, the Courier-Observer and Watertown Daily Times were also designated as the Town of Massena’s official newspapers for the publication of all local law notices and other matters required by law to be published.
