CANTON — St. Lawrence County has extended a contract under the statewide Interoperable Communications Grant.
The move came during legislator’s Dec. 12 Operations Committee meeting.
The contract will bring $848,652 to the county’s Office of Emergency Services to improve “interoperability and operability of communication systems in New York state,” according to officials.
The contract is set to expire on Dec. 31, 2023.
Legislators also approved signing a contract extension for the FY21 Public Safety Answering Points Grant.
That grant is administered through the New York State Office of Homeland Security and the Office of Emergency Services.
The grant will be for $207,504 to “concentrate on the purchase of equipment to enhance dispatching and 911 call taking,” officials say.
The one-year extension will run through Dec. 31, 2023.
