Clarkson University’s Potsdam Runners Team competes in USAF Marathon

POTSDAM -- Twelve members of Clarkson University’s Potsdam Runners Team, along with runners from SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson’s Air Force ROTC, competed in the 15th annual USAF Marathon at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Sept. 17.
Two team members, Matthew Choiniere and Eric Lipski, completed their first full marathons -- both beating their goals of completing the marathon in under six hours.
The remaining team members, Amanda Brewer, Nicole Brewer, Ryan Carr, Justin Harrington, Brian Hume, Casey Lupini, Timothy Sick, Cody Stocker, SSgt Kevin Alexander, and Lt Col J.C. Sorensen ran the half marathon.
Notable standouts included Sick who completed his half marathon in 1:20:01, finishing 24th overall (4666 finishers), 14th of 914 active duty military, 4th of 124 in his division (Males 20-24), and #1 Air Force ROTC Cadet.
Hume completed his half marathon in 1:36:54, finishing 146th overall, # 63 of active duty military, 15th in his division (Males 20-24), and #3 of Air Force ROTC Cadets.
Sorensen competed and completed his first half marathon at the age of 52 finishing in the top 44% overall.
The Potsdam Runners raised all the money for their trip via numerous fundraisers over the past six months. In addition to raising funds for the trip, they were also raising funds for the Wounded Warrior Fund. The Potsdam Runners donated over $400 to the cause.
