CANTON – Members of the Canton Town Board on Wednesday will once again visit a waiver of a residency requirement for the deputy town clerk.
Town Clerk Heidi Smith appointed Leanna Moquin, who resides in Morristown, as her deputy clerk in January. Since then, the town board has twice tabled waiving the residency law.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and be held in person at the Canton Municipal Building Courtroom. A Zoom feed, with no public participation, will be available.
Another agenda item involves a State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) review of the proposed Miner Street Road Trail Connector project. In December 2019, the town and village received $528,739 in Regional Economic Development Council funds to widen the Miner Street Road from near St. Lawrence University’s Appleton Arena to Taylor Park. The move would enhance safety measures for both pedestrians and bicyclists.
The funding will also be used for a proposed Willow Island Park project.
