CANTON – A construction project in the works before the COVID pandemic hit in the courtroom is back on the table as the Town of Canton is now accepting bids for the work.
Work will focus on converting a storage closet in the downstairs courtroom at the Canton Municipal Building into an attorney-client meeting room.
The Canton Town Court will be looking to secure funding through a state Justice Court Assistant Program grant, noted Canton Town Supervisor Mary Ann Ashley.
“This project was approved by the building committee before COVID hit,” said Ashley.
No plans have yet been approved for renovations to the upstairs town court office.
Earlier this year, the Canton Historian’s office, located upstairs in the municipal building for decades, was moved downtown at 7 Main St. to ease congestion.
To adhere to the Town Procurement policy, interested contractors are requested to contact the court at (315) 379-9844 to schedule an appointment and get detailed information on the proposed work.
All bids must be submitted by Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. to Town Clerk Heidi Smith, 60 Main St., Canton, NY 13617.
