MADRID — Cannons blasted, rifles fired, and wounded soldiers fell at the Civil War Reenactment Weekend held at Fort Tribute in Madrid.
The reenactment drew hundreds people to the St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum on July 29 and 30.
The weekend was filled with a variety of events, including tours of the military camps. Infantry, artillery and cavalry drills were held.
Period cooking and field hospital demonstrations were given. Civil War era artifacts and displays, speakers and music were also available for attendees.
Organizer Scott Wilson thanked the many reenactors who volunteer their time to make history come alive. The reenactors came from as far as Maine and Virginia, as well as Canada, but many were also local residents.
