Above normal temperature are expected across the North Country Friday as high pressure remains anchored across the St. Lawrence Valley, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
A complex system is poised to impact the region late Saturday into Sunday with rain likely across most valleys and mixed wintry precipitation for the northern St. Lawrence Valley and higher summits, forecasters say.
On Sunday, a transition of rain or snow is expected becoming more snow over the afternoon. Toward midweek, quiet and above normal conditions resume for the remainder of next week.
The forecast through the middle next wee is as follows:
Saturday
A slight chance of rain or freezing rain before noon, then rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 36. Northeast wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected.
Saturday Night
Rain before 4am, then rain and snow likely. Low around 32. Northeast wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Sunday
Rain and snow showers likely, becoming all snow after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 35. South wind around 7 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Snow showers likely, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
