MASSENA -- The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department held a rabies clinic at St. Lawrence Centre mall recently and put out a statement saying they “would like to thank the mall for partnering to host rabies clinics in Massena this year.”
The Public Health Department coordinated a pre-register-only clinic with the mall and their Halloween Pet Costume Contest on Oct. 12, vaccinating 76 animals. The pre-registration process was successful in providing reduced wait times for animal owners, reducing onsite paper forms, and allowing for quick “in-and-out” appointments. Additionally, by using the electronic system, printable easy-to-read rabies certificates are less likely to contain errors.
“And, thank you to those who have had their pets vaccinated to prevent rabies,” said county Public Health Director Dana Olzenak McGuire.
