$500 donation provides food for nearly 100 St. Lawrence County families

The Community Lunch Program for Kids would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Northern New York Community Foundation for their recent grant of $500.

This very generous donation covered the cost of half of their April 15/16th distribution.

This grant allowed us to prepare 94 boxes of food for our 94 families with over 240 children.

Even though the NNCS is distributing breakfast/ lunch to students at five different sites, we continue to distribute food every two weeks for the following reasons:

1. Not all families have transportation to get to the school's p/u sites.

2. Parents who are still working are not available to pick up food at the designated times at the school sites.

3. Many families who receive food from our program have members who have lost their jobs or had their hours cut.

4. Many families living in poverty, cannot afford the gas to get to the school's food distribution sites at the designated times.

5. By providing food to our 94 families, this should ease the strain on the local food pantries and insure that the pantries have enough food for senior citizens and others.

Without the generosity of organizations such as Northern New York Community Foundation, we would not be able to continue to provide nutritious food to our local children and their families during this pandemic! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
