Hermon-DeKalb Central names 2022 valedictorian, salutatorian, graduates with distinction

DEKALB JUNCTION — Hermon-DeKalb Central School has announced valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2022.

Emma Friot, daughter of Jonathan and Mary-Elizabeth Friot, has been named valedictorian. Her academic achievements have earned her an overall grade point average of 97.99 % and she will graduate with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and an annotation that denotes Mastery in Mathematics and Science. Emma has also earned 27 college credits.

Among her many honors and awards, Emma is the recipient of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal, New York State Comptroller Achievement Award, Junior Key Award, United States Air Force Math & Science Award. She is also deemed an Academic All-Star, receiving a Sportsmanship Award as well as being named a Section X Athlete of Distinction for Section X Basketball. Additionally, Emma is a member and treasurer of National Honor Society, co-captain of the basketball team and a member of band, chorus, yearbook and student council. She also attended the HOBY Leadership Conference.

Emma enjoys playing basketball, traveling, reading, and spending time with friends. She plans to attend Siena College for nursing.

Keaton Brabaw, son of Matthew and Jessica Brabaw, has been named salutatorian. Keaton will graduate with a Regents diploma with Honors. He has also earned 23 college credits.

Among many honors and scholarships, he is a recipient of a Clarkson University Achievement Award, the Rensselaer Medal Scholarship, Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award and the RIT Computing Medal. Keaton is also a member of National Honor Society.

In his free time, Keaton enjoys playing piano, music and spending time outdoors.

Keaton is planning to pursue a Doctorate of Pharmacy.

Hermon-Dekalb Central School Graduates with Distinction

Jocelyn Manzer, daughter of Amber Boulden and Jesse Manzer, is graduating with an overall average of 95.78% and will receive a Regents diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and an annotation that denotes Mastery in Mathematics. She plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology and will study Sociology and Anthropology.

Sierra Riley, daughter of Michael and Elisabeth Riley, is graduating with an overall grade point average of 95.38% and will receive a Regents diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and an annotation that denotes Mastery in Mathematics and Science. Sierra plans to attend SUNY Canton for Game Design.

Rylie Hale, daughter of Jeffrey and Debra Hale, is graduating with an overall grade point average of 95.03% and will receive a Regents diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and an annotation that denotes Mastery in Mathematics and Science. She plans to attend SUNY Brockport for Biology.

Mackenzi Schumaker, daughter of Pamela Bouchey and Scott Schumaker, is graduating with an overall average of 94.92%. She will be receiving a Regents diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and annotation that denotes Mastery in Mathematics and Science. She is also a Top Achiever at Southwest Tech. She plans to attend North Country Community College for radiology to become an X-Ray Technician.

Jacob Coller, son of Greg and Heather Coller, is graduating with an overall average of 92.61% and will receive a Regents diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors. He is also a Top Achiever at Northwest Tech. Jacob plans to attend SUNY Cobleskill for Agricultural Engineering.

Tracey Jones, daughter of Jennifer Shampine and Scott Jones, is graduating with an overall average of 92.40% and will receive a Regents diploma. She plans to attend SUNY Canton for her first year of study then transfer to SUNY Plattsburgh for the entrepreneurship program.

Max Finley, son of Richard Finley and Michelle Casler, is graduating with an average of 91.98% overall and will receive a Regents diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and an annotation that denotes Mastery in Science. He plans to become an English professor.

Billy Granger, son of Diana Laubscher and Mark Laubscher, is graduating with an overall average of 91.66% and will receive a Regents diploma with Advanced Designation. He plans to enlist in the United States Army after graduation.

Hanna Gollinger, daughter of Gayle Gollinger, is set to graduate with an overall average of 91.05% and will receive a Regents diploma with Advanced Designation. She plans to attend SUNY Plattsburgh for Business.

Madisyn Wright, daughter of John and Nichole Wright, will graduate with an overall average of 90.62% and will receive a Regents diploma with Advanced Designation. She plans to attend SUNY Cobleskill for Animal Science.
