Edwards-Knox names Scott valedictorian, White salutatorian for 2022

EDWARDS — Edwards-Knox Central School has named its valedictorian and salutatorian for 2022.

Tyler Scott, son of Matthew and Diane Scott, has been named valedictorian. His academic achievements have earned him an overall grade point average of 96.22%. He will graduate with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and annotation that denotes Mastery in Mathematics and Science. Tyler has also earned 12 college credits, has taken two AP courses, and earned Outstanding Performance Awards in all his core courses. Tyler is an active, outgoing presence in class with a great sense of humor.

His openness to feedback shows that he is always learning and growing as a learner and leader; an impressive ability that will continue to serve him well in college and beyond. Tyler is just the kind of driven, engaging, and curious student that helps make a classroom a lively environment and safe place to take intellectual risks.

Among his many honors and awards, Tyler is the recipient of The Air Force Scholar/Athlete of the Year, the University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Science Award, the RIT Computing Medal and Scholarship, the St. Bonaventure University Bonnie Scholar Award, and the Elmira College Key Award. Elmira College is where Tyler plans on attending for Biology with plans to go into Chiropractic Science. He is also deemed a WWNY Academic All-Star, being a three-season athlete. He also participates in extracurricular activities, including the National Honors Society and chess club. Tyler enjoys playing golf, basketball, helping others, chess, and spending time with friends. You may also see him on a lifeguard stand near you this summer.

Mason White, Edwards-Knox salutatorian.

Mason White, son of Timothy and Jennifer White, has been named salutatorian. His academic achievements have earned him an overall grade point average of 95.81%. He will graduate with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and annotation that denotes Mastery in Mathematics and Science. He has also earned various college credits through dual enrollment and AP courses.

Mason's dedication and perseverance have earned him his current title as salutatorian for the class of 2022. He is contributive and attentive in class, fostering an engaging and dynamic classroom. Not only is his academic achievement a feat in itself, but it is even more astounding when you consider that Mason is also an accomplished athlete, competing in basketball, golf, soccer, and baseball. He participates in several extracurricular activities, including the National Honors Society and chess club. Mason is also a demonstrated leader as he is the President of his class and an active member of his community, where he has given back by organizing and volunteering roadside cleanups and concession stands for events.

Among many honors and scholarships, he is a recipient of the RIT Creativity and Innovation Award, Student Sage Award, Leadership Award, St. Bonaventure University Bonnie Scholar Award, and earned Outstanding Performance awards in many of his courses throughout his high school career.

Mason plans to attend SUNY Delhi to study Golf and Sports Turf Management.
