Snow day activities

MADRID: Hepburn Library of Madrid hosting “Snow Day” 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; 2nd annual Anything Chocolate contest with prizes in 3 categories, anything edible you can make with chocolate in it; 11 a.m.: Pre-K story hour; 2 p.m.: Family story hour with craft; 4 p.m. snow forts STEM challenge; 5-7 p.m.: outdoors events including skating, snow painting, milk jug curling, plus indoor snowball fight in downstairs of library and ice rink/grounds around library and rink

Winterfest

TRI-TOWN: Various activies and events kick off for the Tri-Town Winterfestival “Light Up the Night.” Opening festivities begin at the Riverview Bar and Grill in Brasher Falls; cocktails begin at 6 p.m., crowing of royalty at 7 p.m.; dinner at 7:15 p.m. tickets are $25; and the comedy impove group Completely Straded perform from 8:30-10 p.m.; DJ from 10 p.m. –midnight;, contact Jacque at 315-250-9822.

Snow sculpture contest

WINTHROP: Part of Tri-Town Winter Carnival, release your inner child. Light up the Tri-Town area with snowmen, snow globes, moons, stars, lanterns or anything else; use lights, lanterns, glow sticks in the sculptures; enter your location by 4 p.m. to the Hammil Funeral Home, 653 NY Hwy 11C; cash prizes.

Howl story event

CANTON: Open mic storytelling competition for North Country and Adirondack, open to anyone with a true, 5-minute story to share on new theme “Fish out of Water”; 7-9 p.m.; $5 to attend; presented by Adirondack Center for Writing and North Country Public Radio; The Stadium Sports Bar, 35 Main St.

Faculty dance concert
