North Country Sustainability Day and Green Living Fair set for April 22-23 in Canton

CANTON — The Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton congregation will participate in the North Country Partnership for Environmental Action, Community, and Sustainability North Country Sustainability Day and Green Living Fair on April 22 and 23.

On Sunday, April 24, at the 10:30 a.m. intergenerational worship service, the congregation will welcome Ministers Emeritus Anne Marsh and Wade Wheelock, who will join Director of Religious Education Carol Zimmerman to celebrate “Earth Day with Frog and Toad.”

The service will feature Arnold Lobel’s Frog looking for spring “which is just around the corner" and Toad, who wants his new garden to grow immediately. The service will explore how everything fits into the interdependent web and honor the four elements – earth, air, water, fire, all touching on our relationship to the Earth.

“In this fun and joyful service we hope to convey the important message that everything is connected,” said the returning ministers. “As we will learn, ‘It takes a while for a seed to sprout. And it takes even longer for seeds of commitment to peace and justice and care for the Earth to grow. But it's important to plant and tend those seeds anyway, and to have faith that someday they will flower.’”

All are welcome to participate in this service for the whole family – virtually or in person.

Information about virtual attendance can be found on the church website. Proof of vaccination (for those eligible) is required for in-person attendance at the church, located at 3½ East Main Street, across from the Village park in Canton.

The Revs. Marsh and Wheelock will also preach at the church on Sunday, April 17, and Sunday, May 1.
